Remote witnessing of important legal documents, such as Wills and Affidavits, is set to stay.
During the COVID-19 pandemic the NSW Government introduced temporary measures to allow for remote witnessing.
“After a successful trial period of 18 months, we’re pleased to be extending these effective
and secure provisions to make life easier for people in the future”, Attorney General Mark Speakerman said.
The Electronic Transactions Amendment (Remote Witnessing) Bill 2021 will permanently
allow documents to be witnessed in real time over an audio-visual link (AVL) when the
legislation receives assent.
